Benson Kilonzo, an elephant keeper at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, bottle-feeds an orphaned elephant at the Trust’s orphanage facility near Nairobi, Kenya, February 2008. While the western districts of Kenya and the slums of Nairobi were still haunted by outbreaks of post-election and inter-ethnic violence, the 17 devoted keepers who come from some six different tribes representing both sides of the political divide continued to work in a stable and peaceful environment.
